IN THEIR WORDS

Solidarity Statements

“Working in solidarity with the Ayșenur campaign is an honor for us at Washington for Peace and Justice. We have been given an opportunity to stand in solidarity with someone who gave everything for Palestinian lives. Her courage carries the legacy of Rachel Corrie and every Palestinian life taken by the Israeli Army. For our organization, this fight is a reminder that demanding accountability is at the heart of our work.”

- Washington for Peace and Justice

“ Jewish Voice for Peace Seattle stands with the family of Ayșenur Ezgi Eygi in commemoration of her life. We mourn her killing and hold her memory close to our hearts. We honor her legacy of solidarity, courage, and humanity by opposing Israel’s racism and violence. We remain committed to justice, dignity, freedom, and accountability for Palestinians facing genocide and ethnic cleansing.”

- Jewish Voice for Peace Seattle

Institutional Climate Action at the University of Washington supports calls for justice and accountability for Ayşenur Ezgi Eygi. We further support the demand for an independent investigation into her murder. As a climate justice organization at the UW, ICA works to center the undeniable fact that environmental justice means social justice . . . Thus, as students, we repeat our calls for justice, both for Ayşenur and for the larger injustices of genocide, apartheid, and occupation in Palestine, and across the world. We hold up Ayşenur as an inspiration, and condemn those who continue to fail to pursue justice for students, activists, and Washingtonians.

The People’s Library, a community and UW student-led collective that sprung during the Liberated Zone encampments for Palestine, demands justice for our beloved Ayşenur. As we grieve the world we could have built with Ayşenur, we are reminded that even if for a glimpse of her life we were part of her efforts to fight in solidarity with Palestine on the ground and we must continue the fight. Today, this includes demanding an independent investigation into her murder. It also includes supporting all the efforts that her close community proposes. We are very lucky to have been touched by Ayşenur’s unwavering steadfastness when she shared space and dreams of a free Palestine with us.

- The People’s Library

UW Divest for Palestine demands justice for our friend and comrade Ayşenur Ezgi Eygi. We demand an independent investigation into her murder, and condemn those in power who have failed to advance or achieve accountability for this injustice. Thus, as students who both knew her and were inspired by her, we are determined to embrace Ayşenur legacy by actively working to fight injustice here and abroad. As part of that work, we will continue to demand justice for Ayşenur, for Rachel Corrie, and for the millions of Palestinians who have suffered and continue to suffer at the hands of Israel while our institutions profit.
